Maureen Denise McCormick is the one child, and the youngest daughter of Richard McCormick. She was born August 5, 1956, in Woodland Hills. She was also the mother of a homemaker. Michael, Dennis, Kevin and her younger sister. McCormick started dancing and singing at an early age and often performed puppet shows for the kids in her neighbourhood. When she won the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest when she was just six, Pat Domigan from the Jack Wormser Agency called her asking if McCormick wanted to get into the showbiz. McCormick received her first major break in 1964. She starred in the Mattel commercial for "Baby Pattaburp" doll" the company's newest doll. Another commercial for Mattel was filmed in 1964, for the "Chatty-Cathy" doll. Shortly afterward, she was cast as the lead role in the show The Brady Bunch: Wind It Up and It Breaks on the stage of Playhouse in La Jolla Playhouse. McCormick received an audition in 1969 from 1,200 kids to be the oldest of the three twin daughters in the TV series The Brady Bunch. Florence Henderson and Robert Reed played newlyweds who lived in a household that blended. The show lasted for five seasons. In her memoir, Here's the Story: How I Survived Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice, published in 2008, McCormick disclosed that during the fifth season of the show, she nearly lost her virginity to her onscreen brother, co-star Barry Williams. He was 19 years old. She was just 16. "It could have been a possibility," she said, "but it was not the time suitable the way it was for us."
